Enjoy The Outdoors - With Patio Or Wicker Outdoor Furniture

By: Kenny Leichester

You may have often heard of Wicker furniture. You may have even seen them before. Did you know that this interwoven pattern of willow stripes furniture is actually made from canes of willow trees? Willow trees mainly grow in Southeast Asia in countries like China, Indonesia and Philippines.
The fad for Wicker started during the Victorian era when it was preferred than upholstered due to a cleaner and more hygienic look. However, a combination of wicker and upholstered was also fairly common then.
When considering to buy wicker, be sure to go for the type made from synthetic material such as resin. The frame can be from steel, aluminum or rattan can be quite a strong combination. You should also go for cushion covers that are made for the outdoor such as acrylic and polyester.
There is certainly no shortage of choices for a buyer of patio wicker furniture. For instance, you can find loveseats, chaises, tables, chairs, rockers, tea-carts, bars, bar stools, planters and plant stands. In terms of colors, you can find evergreen, chestnut, redwood, white and natural.
Choose patio wicker furniture that is either of contemporary style or of traditional such as ottomans and love seats. If you are very modern, you may be drawn towards some furniture like bistro sets (dining sets that accommodate two to four people) that come in bright colors like blue, pink and green.
Walking to a store that sells wicker furniture, you’ll find popular ones like the Atlantis wicker loveseat, Boardwalk wicker arm chair and Boca 42 low dining wicker table with a hole for the umbrella.
For even greater usability, consider purchasing patio wicker furniture that is foldable. Or pod patio dining sets that can be pushed in when not in use, resulting in a pod effect. So if you have a space constraint, just be a little more creative and you get to save space as well as display more creativity in your outdoor furnishings.

No worry on the painting either. Most wicker outdoor furniture is painted in a multiple dipping process to ensure that all areas including nooks, crevices and the like are covered. As a bonus, a finish applied in two stages really gives the furniture weathered look. Where dyes are used, they are mixed into the resin itself, making the colors last and look natural. Or, choose soft weathered paint.
If you want to put your wicker furniture on grass, make sure you place them on stands or fit leg caps onto them first. Wicker can absorb moisture so if you want your furniture to last please do not put them directly on the grass.
It is a good idea to give it a protective coating of oil or varnish. Clean your furniture with the right solution and correct procedure. Do follow the manual on this.
It is also wise to put coverings on your furniture when you aren’t using them especially when they are not made from resin. You should also look for places that provide shades and to do this, you might want to move your furniture from time to time. This will not be a problem as wicker is fairly light weighted.
It is wise to thoroughly inspect the furniture you are about to buy. Make sure there are no gaps between the woven cane and splinters. Don’t forget to ask about after sales service period and warranty too.
Outdoor wicker furniture comes in many different styles and designs. You can even find ones that you can assemble at home apart from ready made. Hallow bamboo and rattan frames are prime choices for those on tight budget. You can also find teak wood, aluminum or steel frames.
As usual, browse and shop online for ease of comparison and variety, all from one place; in front of the computer. This way, you can get a good deal without tiring yourself out. After all, you are beautifying your home and getting yourselves more comfortable in the process, so make it an enjoyable journey.
