Hotels in Tralee, Ireland

By: Mairead Foley

Tralee in County Kerry has become a popular destination in recent years. It has lots of attractions in the town like the Kerry County Museum and the Geraldine Experience in the Ashe Memorial Hall, Siamsa Folk Theatre, Blennerville Windmill, Blennerville Steam Train, Tralee Greyhound Track and the Aqua Dome – the largest water park in Ireland! It’s also got a large shopping centre, lots of restaurants, pubs, bars and some nightclubs. Tralee is located close to the coast, so you won't be far from golden sandy beaches whether you're after surfing, sunbathing or swimming.

Tralee is probably best known for its international festival – The Rose of Tralee. This festival draws people from all over the world to enjoy the festivities and of course, to see which girl will be crowned the Rose of Tralee. The week long festival features fireworks, a carnival, a rose ball, a fashion show, live music on the streets, horse racing and lots more. In 2008, the festival is taking place from Friday 22nd to Tuesday 26th August.

Tralee has eight hotels, which range from 2 star to 5 star and with locations in different parts of the town so you are sure to find something that's in the right location for you.

If you want a Tralee hotel right in the heart of the town then choose Benner's Hotel Tralee, The Grand Hotel Tralee, or The Imperial Hotel Tralee. The Brandon Hotel is located on Princes Street, just a few minutes walk from the town centre. These Tralee hotels make a great base for browsing the shops or enjoying the nightlife.

Sitting on the outskirts of the town you'll find Fels Point Hotel, The Meadowlands Hotel and the Manor West Hotel. The luxury Ballygarry Hotel is located on the main Tralee-Killarney road about 1.5km from the town centre.
