Walking Tours of Dublin

You can stroll around Dublin's most important sights and learn about its history, taking in the medieval districts and Old Georgian Dublin. And you can also check out some of the best bars in Dublin on one of the pub crawls.

Here's a list of the top walking tours that the city has to offer.

Pat Liddy’s Walking Tours of Dublin

The award winning Pat Liddy's Walking Tours operates scheduled tours, as well as pre-booked group walks, around Dublin, covering all areas of the city: Viking Dublin, Old Georgian Dublin as well as walking tours around some of the city's top attractions. The experienced guides, Pat himself is a native Dubliner, will entertain each walking group with stories as you stroll around the city.

Classic Tours…

These walking tours last around 2 hours 15 minutes.

The Historic Northside Tour - Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 10.30am.
Viking & Medieval Dublin Tour - Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 10.30am.
The Great Dublin Experience Tour - Thursday at 2.30pm.
Georgian Splendours Tour - 18th & 19th Century Dublin - Friday at 2.30pm.
Medieval Saint Patrick's and the Cathedral Quarter Tour - Saturday at 2.30pm.

Standard Tours…

These tours last around 1 hour

Temple Bar and Riverside Tour - Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10.30am)
Castle, Courtyards & Historic Byways Tour - Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 10.30am.

Scheduled tours operate from May 15th to the 31st of October. Tours depart from outside the Tourist Information Office on Suffolk Street in Dublin city centre. Pre-booked group tours operate all year round.

The Historical Walking Tours of Dublin

This 2 hour walking tour covers all aspects of Dublin history and your guide is actually a history graduate from Trinity College. The tour starts outside Trinity College, and stops along the way include the Old Parliament House, the cultural heart of the city known as Temple Bar, City Hall, Dublin Castle, Wood Quay, Christ Church Cathedral and the Four Courts. Tickets cost around EUR12.00 for an adult and EUR10.00 with a concession or under 14's.

Tour times…

May to September: Daily at 11am and 3pm.
April and October: Daily at 11am.
November to March: Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11am.

Dublin Literary Pub Crawl

The Dublin Literary Pub Crawl is an award winning walking tour that takes the visitor from pub to pub with the emphasis on 'Literary'. The tour lasts for over 2 hours and professional actors recite from the works of famous Irish writers, including James Joyce, George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, Sean O' Casey and Samuel Beckett, along the way. You can learn about these great Irish writers and enjoy the 'craic' of the Dublin pub scene and have a few pints, all at the same time.

The tour kicks off in The Duke Pub on Duke Street. Other pubs along the route include The Long Hall, McDaid's, Davy Byrnes and O'Neill's.

Tour times…

April to October: Every evening at 7.30pm and noon on Sunday.
November to March: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7.30pm and noon on Sunday.
